Colosseum.how is an independent guide to the Colosseum. Two people make it: Artur Jakucewicz writes and builds it, and Jana Jakucewicz designs it.

Who makes Colosseum.how

Artur Jakucewicz

Founder, author and developer

Artur lived in Rome from 2013 to 2023 and still comes back regularly. In those years he walked past the Colosseum hundreds of times and went inside many times, in different seasons and at different times of day. The photographs on this site are his.

He has also written about Rome and Italy for RomeItaly.guide and for his own travel site Italy4.me, and published iOS apps about Italy and Rome. On Colosseum.how he writes the guides and built the system that compares ticket availability.

Jana Jakucewicz

UX and UI designer

Jana also lived in Rome from 2013 to 2023. As a UX and UI designer, she tries to make the process of planning your visit to the Colosseum a little bit easier. With many different entry options and other things a traveller should think about before their trip to Rome, it can get pretty overwhelming. But Colosseum.how will help you figure it out.

What the guide covers

Tickets are one part of the site. We also write about the Colosseum's history, its gladiators and lesser-known facts, and about Nero's Domus Aurea next to it. We show where to photograph the Colosseum from and put together one-day plans that combine it with the Roman Forum, the Vatican or the Borghese Gallery. The guide is written for visitors and for anyone reading about ancient Rome.

Independent price comparison

We compare the official ticket office with Tiqets, GetYourGuide, Headout and Viator for the same date and entry time, and show the lowest price we find together with what each ticket includes. Official tickets are usually the cheapest, so when they are on sale they come first. When they sell out, you still see what the resellers have left.

We don't recommend a single provider. Offers are sorted by price, not by provider or commission, and the availability calendar is refreshed every hour.

How the site is funded

We don't sell tickets ourselves. If you book through a link to one of our partners, the partner handles the purchase and may pay us a commission. It does not change what you pay. Commission does not decide which options we list, in what order, or what we say about them.

How we check information

Opening hours, entry rules and ticket types are checked against the official ticket website of the Parco archeologico del Colosseo. On history pages we try to keep what is known apart from what is legend.

If something on the site is out of date, write to us and we will check it.

Not the official ticket office

Colosseum.how is not part of the Parco archeologico del Colosseo, which manages the monument, or of its official ticket office. You can also buy tickets directly on the official website.
